The chart below illustrates the letter assignments used by five different transliteratiion schemes which have been in use. It will be of interest to note the variations between the schemes and the assignments specific to a language. Though these schemes are good for individual languages, collectively across all the languages, there will be some difficulty in applying a uniform scheme for all the languages.

  One may keep in mind the observation that the CSX scheme is not a transliteration scheme which uses only displayable ASCII letters. The CSX scheme is a specific representation that was evolved for displaying Sanskrit Text using diacritics.
